CEO and College Principal
Susanna Shelton BA(USA), MDiv(UK), RCHom Before discovering homeopathy, Susanna worked in Medical Research at Johns Hopkins Medical School and the University of Virginia Medical Schools in the USA. Her life long interest in spirituality however, led her to Scotland where she completed a post-graduate degree in Theology at St Andrews University as well as post-graduate work at Harvard Divinity School. Midway through her theological training she was introduced to homeopathy.
This led to formal training in homeopathy with the National Center of Homeopathy (USA) and The College of Homeopathy in London. She recently completed a post-graduate training at the Hahnemann Institute of the Netherlands. Susanna has completed a Certificate in Adult Teaching (CAT) at Bay of Plenty Polytechnic.
Susanna's clinical focus is in the use of homeopathy for pregnancy and birth. She works closely with hospital and independent midwives and teaches special courses for healthcare professionals. Susanna has guest tutored for nursing and midwifery programmes in several New Zealand polytechnics.
She writes regular articles on homeopathy for various publications including Homeopathy Today (USA) and Homeopath of which she was a founding editor. Susanna is a registered member of the New Zealand Council of Homeopaths (NZCH). She is currently serving on the National Executive Committee of the NZCH.
Susanna has been a member of the NZQA Expert Panel for Homeopathy since 1994 and is a past chairwoman of the NZQA Advisory Group on Natural Therapies. She is passionately committed to establishing and maintaining high standards in homeopathic education.
College Dean and Senior Lecturer
Julie Andrews, BMusic, ND, DipHom, ADH, RCHom For over thirty years, Julie's academic and professional life has been filled with two great passions - music and the healing arts. In 1968, Julie completed a Bachelor of Music at the University of Auckland. By this time, she had also gained Licentiates in Piano Performance and Teaching from both the Trinity College of Music and the Royal Schools of Music. She received a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London and graduated from that prestigious institute in 1970. On returning to New Zealand, she continued to teach and perform, raise a family and began to pursue her formal study of herbal medicine, naturopathy and homeopathy.
Julie completed Diplomas in Naturopathy and Homeopathy in 1988 at the South Pacific College of Natural Therapies. Then she began to apply the teaching skills acquired through her musical career to teaching homeopathy and natural health.
Julie has been involved with the Bay of Plenty College since 1995 and became the first recipient of the College's Advanced Diploma of Homeopathy. Julie holds qualifications in Teaching and Assessment and became Dean at the College in 1999.
South Island Course Coordinator and Senior Lecturer
Judy Coldicott, DipTchg, DipHom, ADH, RCHom Judy trained and worked as a primary teacher prior to her homeopathy studies. She became interested in homeopathy after seeing great results with her family and went on to complete her Diploma in Homeopathy in 1995.
Judy began practicing and teaching introductory courses in South Canterbury and in 1996, became a homeopathy tutor at Aoraki Polytechnic. In 1999, Judy became South Island Coordinator for the Bay of Plenty College. She is well loved by students and staff alike - especially for the clarity of her teaching and for her energy and enthusiasm!
